Co-Main Event Podcast Episode 300 (4/2/18)

comainPod-AEpisode 300! Good thing your dudes didn’t have big plans about how they would spend this milestone episode of the Co-Main Event Podcast, since the MMA world up and went kablammo on Sunday night about 5 p.m. in the OTTZ. So, instead of doing a bunch of navel gazing about how many hours of podcast time they’ve spent sitting across the table from each other, Ben and Chad actually talk MMA. Here, they marvel, near-dumbfounded at Tony Ferguson’s late withdrawal from UFC 223 and his pending lightweight title fight against Khabib Nurmagomedov. Four times they’ve tried to book this fight now and four times it has fallen through. Now we get Nurmy vs. Holloway, though. That’ll be an awesome fight, but one that has far reaching consequences in both the lightweight and featherweight divisions. Aside from all that mess, the guys study the strawweight championship rematch between Rose Namajunas and Joanna Jedrzejczyk, which has been surprisingly drama-free leading up to UFC 223. Knock on wood.

All that, plus AYFKM and JSS.

Direct downloaders can take the side of themselves that still wants to see Ferguson-Nurmagomedov get rebooked, put it into a burlap sack and drown it right here.

Co-Main Event Podcast Episode 299 (3/26/18)

comainPod-AWith the major MMA organizations largely taking the weekend off, the Co-Main Event Podcast is back with an All Questions Considered episode. This week, Ben and Chad let the brave and generous sponsors of their Patreon page have first dibs at submitting questions. That means this episode is NO HOLDS BARRED. Your dudes take questions on pretty much everything under the sun from whether the UFC is missing longtime matchmaker Joe Silva and what are the greatest one-liners in UFC history to all this talk of big time boxers like Anthony Joshua showing up under the UFC banner. Not enough for you? Well, subscribers to the Patreon are in luck. Your dudes plan to drop a Patreon Power Hour later this week where they answer even more questions. You asked for it and you’re gonna get it.

Co-Main Event Podcast Episode 298 (3/19/18)

comainPod-ADid Fabricio Werdum merely get caught slipping on Saturday at UFC Fight Night 127? Or does the 40-year-old former UFC champ’s knockout loss to Alexander Volkov forecast the end of Werdum’s time among the heavyweight elite? These and other vexing questions are what occupy Ben and Chad’s time on this week’s Co-Main Event Podcast. It didn’t necessarily look as though Werdum had lost a step against Volkov, but it also didn’t look like he had more than one idea for each facet of the fight, either. In addition to speculating about whether Father Time is finally catching up with Mirko CroCop’s jiu-jitsu coach, your dudes consider the UFC’s decision to book Darren Till at home in Liverpool in May and also discuss the notion that the light heavyweight division still has no idea which way is up.

All that, plus AYFKM and Just Sayin’ Stuff.

Co-Main Event Podcast Episode 297 (3/12/18)

comainPod-AHaving–somewhat improbably–survived Friday night’s PrideFC Drinking Game Challenge, Ben and Chad return this week to their lives as humble and rapidly aging podcast hosts. The Co-Main Event still has plenty of contemporary work to do, after all, what with this week’s UFC Fight Night 127 coming up from London. In addition to that, there is Mirko CroCop’s surprising journey to Bellator MMA, which raises questions about whether Scott Coker and his merry band of misfit toys need to quickly decide which kind of MMA promotion they want to be. In addition to that, Nick Newell advanced to 14-1 over the weekend and now says he wants his shot in the UFC. Will Dana White reverse his own proclamation that Newell will never fight in the Octagon?

All that, plus AYFKM, MasterTweet Theatre and Just Sayin’ Stuff.

Co-Main Event Podcast Episode 296 (3/5/18)

comainPod-AWe’re down to single digits now in counting the days until the Co-Main Event Podcast PrideFC Drinking Game Special. So if you still haven’t gotten down with the Patreon, the time is now. This week, however, there is still plenty to talk about. Ben and Chad take on the Cris “Cyborg” Justino Show and whether it’s starting to get boring watching her starch some nobody every time out. In addition, they hold a requiem for The Old Man, after Frankie Edgar’s knockout loss to Brian Ortega over the weekend. On the plus side, the UFC put more young talent on display in Las Vegas on Saturday, so your dudes ask with Ortega, Sean O’Malley and Mackenzie Dern, is there reason to hope for a youth movement inside the Octagon?

All that, plus AYFKM, Tips for the Well-Rounded Fight Fan and Just Sayin’ Stuff.

Co-Main Event Podcast Episode 295 (2/26/18)

comainPod-AJeremy Stephens scored a potentially big win over Josh Emmett on Saturday at UFC on Fox 28. How he got there is where things get interesting. The hard-slugging Stephens appeared to commit multiple fouls en route to a second-round KO victory over Emmett. This week the Co-Main Event Podcast asks: What can be done about how MMA enforces its rules? Should we just rip up the current playbook at start all over again? Does anybody even care? Ben and Chad struggle over what to make of Stephens’ win, then spend a round trying to figure out if Conor McGregor is completely done fighting of it he’ll fight as many as two times in the UFC before 2018 is up. Also, what’s going on with his turtleneck? Additionally, we all look ahead to this weekend’s UFC 222 and ask what is becoming the defining question of MMA this year: This shit worth $65?

All that, plus AYFKM and Just Sayin’ Stuff.

Co-Main Event Podcast Episode 294 (2/20/18)

comainPod-AALL QUESTIONS CONSIDERED ALERT! This weekend’s MMA action created too many storylines for the Co-Main Event Podcast to handle under its normal format. Luckily, Ben and Chad also got a ton of good emails from you, the listeners. End result? AQC, baby. An entire show of answering your questions on every topic including Heather Hardy, Matt Mitrione, Derrick Lewis, Cowboy Cerrone and whether or not the UFC is an outdated fad that is about to dry up and blow away. Not good enough for you? What if your dudes also spend a bit of time questioning whether Brock Lesnar is a sensitive and attentive lover? Wait, don’t close that window! The show is pretty good this week. Promise.

Co-Main Event Podcast Episode 293 (2/12/18)

comainPod-AUFC 221 featured uncomfortable close talking, pantomimed public urination, an egregious eye poke & a dude chugging beer out of a shoe. In other words, we finally reached perfection. On this episode of the CME, Ben and Chad just lean back and take it all in. That includes Yoel Romero’s knockout win over Luke Rockhold to capture the interim 187.7 pound championship and young guns like Curtis Blaydes, Israel Adesanya and Tai Tuivasa making themselves heard. In addition to that madness, your guys look ahead to both Friday’s Bellator 194 and the phoenix that is UFC 222, rising out of the ashes with a fun little fight card for March 3. Oh yeah, and the PrideFC Drinking Game Challenge is scheduled and on the books. You bastards.

All that, plus AYFKM and Just Sayin’ Stuff.

Co-Main Event Podcast Episode 292 (2/5/18)

comainPod-ALet’s just say UFC Fight Night 125 did not go off with flying colors Saturday from Belem, Brazil. From the mild controversy of Lyoto Machida’s split decision win over “Ya Boi” Eryk Anders to the slightly more egregious display of Valentina Shevchenko beating up Priscila Cachoeira, this event was one likely best forgotten. You know, just not until you listen to this episode of the CME. Ben and Chad take up all the topics of the moment stemming from UFN 125. Once that’s dispensed with, they look ahead to the main event of UFC 221, such as it is, where Luke Rockhold and Yoel Romero fight for the interim middleweight title.

All that, plus AYFKM and Just Sayin Stuff.
