Film Study: Diaz Camp Not Pleased with Motherf*ckers Being All Wet and Shit

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4rAUKEpclmM]

It has already been a banner week for Diaz-related videos, what with E. Casey Leydon’s fabulous and unflinching profile of the men behind War MMA going up over at MMA Fighting.com. As you may or may not remember from the Just Sayin’ Stuff portion of this week’s CME Podcast Ben Fowlkes also referenced another glorious 209-centric video (which you now see above) proving that being in Nick Diaz’s corner during a UFC fight is exactly as awesome as you’ve always imagined.

Ben posted it to his Twitter account a few days ago, but we figured it was worth putting up here as well, just in case you don’t keep tabs on his every social media move. Though seriously, we can’t imagine why that would be the case, unless you’re not into being insulted.

The whole video is pretty much gold, though major highlights here include the Diaz camp being weirdly (but frankly not surprisingly) obsessed with the amount of water opposing coaches put on these motherfuckers, their pronouncement that Carlos Condit’s offense consists mostly of “asshole shit” and somebody we assume is either Cesar or Nate yelling “Fucking Hawaiians!” during Nick’s fight against B.J. Penn.

Introducing the Co-Main Event Podcast Music Contest

3106Change does not roll in on the wheels of inevitability, you guys, and so we must straighten our backs and work for our freedom. That’s what Martin Luther King Jr. told us during his famous “Promised Land” speech in Memphis, Tennessee (April, 1968) and while we’re reading between the lines a little bit, we’re pretty sure what he meant was this: If you want the Co-Main Event Podcast to have a dope theme song, you have to take the initiative. That shit ain’t gonna write itself.

And so it is up to you, CME Universe, to write, record and enter the contest we hope will produce a brand new main title theme for the show. Since our intense demographic research reveals that pretty much all of you play in cool bands, are DJs, singer/songwriters and/or amazingly talented solo musicians, we figure this won’t be a problem.

You have about three weeks to get this done. Once all entries are received, your humble co-hosts will review them and select a winner. Or maybe we’ll pick some finalists and let the Universe vote on a winner. That part is up in the air at the moment. For now, all you need to concern yourself with is the creative process, and composing a dynamite song to lead the CME into the warm glow of the future. You want to make an epic seven minute video of yourself rapping on a pirate ship to go with it, that’s your business. All we need are the tunes.

ALL ENTRIES MUST BE RECEIVED BY NOON (in the one true time zone, obviously) ON JULY 16, 2013.

Co-Main Event Podcast Episode 57 (6/25/13)

New logo 57Ben and Chad pull a fast one on the CME Universe this week, calling an audible and opting to do an All Questions Answered installment of the podcast for Episode 57. Turns out it was a pretty slow news week in the MMA world and rather than spend an entire round (or two) talking about Nick Diaz’s fledgling War MMA promotion the guys decided it would be better to hear from you, the listener. You didn’t disappoint, either, you little rascals, serving up a full slate of questions that have the hour, eight minutes flying by in a blink. A bunch of topics are addressed, including Anderson Silva’s fitness as GOAT, Chris Weidman’s chances at UFC 162, PEDs (sorry), a new scoring system for MMA and how the world will remember the sport’s recent spate of retirees.

All that, plus Tips for the Well-Rounded Fight Fan, AYFKM and Just Sayin Stuff.

Sounds: This week’s music comes from Somali Pirates, the punk band about to release their second 7-inch on the independent record label run by Sherdog’s Dave Mandel. The music was sent to us by podcast listener/guitarist/vocalist Zack Nelson, and you can find more at their website or at their bandcamp page.

Co-Main Event Podcast Episode 56 (6/18/13)

New logo 56One thing to be said for episode 56 of the Co-Main Event Podcast: Everybody was sober for the recording. We think. Hard to tell sometimes with Ben Fowlkes, you know? Anyway, with the decision-heavy UFC 161 still weighing considerably on their minds this week, Ben and Chad take up Rashad Evans’ victory over Dan Henderson, Roy Nelson’s lackluster loss to Stipe (Stipe!) Miocic and Steve Mazzagatti once again getting the raspberry after letting Josh Burkman choke Jon Fitch unconscious at WSOF 3. So, good for World Series of Fighting for actually getting a full round of the podcast devoted to its product this week. Focus on the positives.

All that, plus AYFKM, listener mail and Just Sayin’ Stuff.

Sounds: The music on this week’s podcast comes from listener Brodie Stevenson and his band Gypsy Chief Goliath. If you like what you hear from them, you can check out more of their tunes at https://www.facebook.com/GypsyChiefGoliath

Co-Main Event Podcast Episode 55 (6/11/13)

New logo 55Well, the Co-Main Event Podcast will never do that again. At least, we hope not. The CME unveils its Unofficial Drinking Game this week with Ben, Chad and Sir Nigel spending the hour trying to drink up the Internet beer they were bequeathed by listener Claire Hammond. Was it a “success”? Perhaps if you consider the podcast essentially devolving into 74 minutes of Just Sayin’ Stuff then, yeah, it was a huge success. On the docket for episode 55 are Fabricio Werdum’s big win over Roddy Nog from last weekend’s UFC on FuelTV event, former UFC stars like Jon Fitch and Quinton “Rampage” Jackson making news and a “preview” of sorts of next week’s UFC 161. The guys would love to tell you how it went, but they’re not sure they “remember” the “whole thing.”

We’re pretty sure there is some AYFKM, MasterTweet Theatre and Just Sayin’ Stuff, though.

Sounds: The music for this week’s show comes from singer/songwriter/podcast listener Chris Newman, and his tracks can be downloaded for free at: http://www.reverbnation.com/chrisnewmanband

Direct downloaders can stumble up and do the deed right here.

Co-Main Event Podcast Episode 54 (6/4/13)

New logo 54The groovy, spaced-out beach vibe that accompanies episode 54 of the Co-Main Event Podcast is due largely to the show’s featured music, which comes to us from a CME listener’s surf rock band called – get this – The Testostertones. If you close your eyes, it’ll be almost like you’re right there with Frankie Avalon and Annette Funicello as they have the time of their lives during that crazy summer of ’65. Except, you know, that Ben and Chad are there harshing everybody’s mellows by talking about MMA the whole time. This week the dudes take on the game of mixed martial musical chairs going on over the UFC 161 card, the sudden insertion of Miesha Tate (and the other half of Caratate) opposite Ronda Rousey on the upcoming season of “The Ultimate Fighter” and the overall newsworthiness of this weekend’s UFC on FuelTV 10 event.

Plus, Tips for the Well-Rounded Fight Fan, AYFKM and Just Sayin’ Stuff.

Sounds: Think The Testostertones are awesome? You can download all their songs for free, http://www.cricketseed.com/testostertones/
